Professor Raffaele Torino, Roma Tre University, answered questions from the student audience after her presented his lecture entitled “Introduction to Italian Law” to students in EUL 101 Societies of Europe, a core unit of the Bachelor of International Studies at Macquarie University. The students enjoyed both the lecture and the question period afterward.

Professor Khosrokhavar's visit to Australia was an initiative of, and coordinated by, the Monash European and EU Centre at Monash University. His lecture series in Australia was co-hosted by Islam Node, ARC APFRN, the National Europe Centre, the Innovative Universities Europe Centre and the International Asia Pacific Institute at Flinders University. While in Australia he appeared in Adelaide, Canberra, Melbourne and Sydney.

"Professor Jon Johnsen; Professor of Public Law, University of Oslo, Norway "

Jon Johnsen is Professor of Public Law at the University of Oslo in Norway
and was Dean of the Faculty of Law between 2004 and 2007. He is adviser
to the Norwegian Ministry of Justice, expert member of the Council of
Europe’s Commission for the Efficiency of Justice and a member of the
International Legal Aid and Legal Services Group. His principal research
fields are criminal justice, money laundering, human rights, and legal aid
and legal services. He publishes on legal services and criminal justice in
both English and Norwegian. He was brought to Australia by the IUEU
Centre as one of its Distinguished Research Fellows, and gave
presentations at Flinders and Macquarie Universities as well as at La
Trobe. The images in the slide show are from his time at Macquarie University .

"Conference: From Migrant To Citizen: testing language, testing culture"

Citizenship testing was introduced in Australia in 2007 and has continued to be a matter of debate. Countries in Europe and North America have designed and administered citizenship tests for over a decade. Macquarie University is undertaking a research project which draws together academic expertise in Law, European Languages, Linguistics, History, Politics and Philosophy.
