IUEU Centre PhD Scholarships
CLOSED: MQRES European Union Phd Scholarship

In 2007 and 2008 the Innovative Universities European Union Centre (IUEU Centre) offered scholarships for research projects leading to a PhD, based at La Trobe University in Melbourne and Macquarie University in Sydney. The first successful candidates commenced their research in 2007.
The scholarships were available for projects focused on the European Union, the integration process in general, or related areas of research. These projects could have been based in Politics, International Relations, European languages and cultural studies, History, Law, Economics or Commerce. The scholarships were open to applicants either from within Australia or internationally.
Current Scholarship Holders:
- Jane Hanley, Macquarie University, Thesis topic: Going Places: Transformations in Spanish Travel Narratives.
- Aurélien Mondon, La Trobe University, Thesis topic: Analysis of extreme right movements in France and Australia, and their influence on moderate political parties and on politics in general.
- Linda Silaghi, Macquarie University, Thesis topic: A comparative excursion into the concept of citizenship which will map the affective reactions of immigrants as they attempt to acquire citizenship, focusing on Australia, Italy, the Netherlands and Hungary.
